Manufacturer: Fortune Healthcare
Pharmaceutical name: Finasteride
Pack: 10 pills (5 mg)
The active ingredient in Proscare is Finasteride. This medication is prescribed for the treatment of male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) specifically affecting the crown and middle of the scalp. Proscare is intended for use by adult men only. Finasteride functions by reducing the levels of a natural hormone in the body (DHT). Lowering DHT levels promotes increased hair regrowth and slows down hair loss. Finasteride does not impact hair growth in other areas of the body. This medication should not be used by women or children.
Proscare is taken orally, with or without food, typically once a day, or as prescribed by your healthcare provider. If the tablet is crushed or split, it should not be handled by a woman who is pregnant or may become pregnant. To maximize the benefits of Proscare, it should be taken consistently at the same time each day. It can take up to 3 months to observe improvements. Ongoing use of Proscare is necessary to maintain hair growth; discontinuing the medication usually results in loss of any hair gained within 12 months. Contact your doctor if your condition continues or deteriorates.
Some men may experience decreased sexual desire or ability. Additionally, Proscare may reduce the volume of semen released during sexual activity, which is harmless. If these side effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor or pharmacist without delay. Keep in mind that your doctor prescribed Proscare because they believe its benefits outweigh potential side effects.
Most individuals using Proscare do not encounter serious adverse effects. However, contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following rare but serious side effects: a lump in the breast, discharge from the nipple, breast enlargement/tenderness/pain, testicular pain, or difficulty urinating. Although a severe allergic reaction to Finasteride is rare, seek urgent medical help if it occurs. Signs of a serious allergic reaction may include: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), extreme dizziness, and difficulty breathing.
